You’re Different South of the Tracks, Gandy
This is the first book in a trilogy “You’re Different South of the Tracks” theme beginning with my youth’s dirt-poor lifestyle lens and set of characters that were the basis of my extensive experiences within the railroad industry, beginning from the rigors of a “Gandy” trackman, trekking through NASA funded high-speed railroad research, and advancing to a federal investigator/regulator.
As my family grew, I shared stories about my railroading lifestyle experiences and ground transportation work not only with my spouse Zelma, our three children (Jody, Heather, and Scott), and my brothers, but with railroad colleagues. These stories described my rich railroading experiences and public/private partnerships that influenced ground transportation. During my time as a federal investigator, I was restricted from discussing my activities with the press or other publications.
Over time, these “Toerberized” stories grew “legs” as they were repeated during various social gatherings.
